HOW IT WORKS

Posting of a bail bond involves a contractual undertaking, where it is guaranteed that the individual being charged will appear at any scheduled hearings or trials. Guarantees and representations are setforth to the Court that the defendant will appear in court each and every time the judge requires him or her to do so. For this service, the defendant is charged a percentage of the bail amount. The standard in the industry is 10%. We charge less, only 7%.* What typically occurs is the defendant is charged with a crime, DWI, DUI, Drug Possession, etc., and is being booked and held. The accused or the defendant or a relative or friend of the defendant/accused, typically seeks out and arranges for the posting of bail. Prior to the posting of a bail bond, the defendant or a co-signer must guarantee that they will pay the full amount of bail if the defendant does not appear in court. Typically, a family member or friend of the defendant will post bail and cosign. Collateral is not always required for a person to be bailed out from jail. Often a person can be bailed from jail on the signature of a friend or by a family member, this is not always required. Cosigners typically need to be working and either own or rent a home in the same county for some time, this is also not always required. After an agreement is reached, a bond for the amount of the bail, to guarantee the defendant’s return to court. If the defendant "skips" and/or dodges a hearing or trial, the defendant is located and arrested. The five basic release options available to an arrestee are, surety bond, release on his or her own recognizance(O.R.), release on citation ("Cite Out"),property bond and/or a cash bail bond.
